EMDR (Bilateral stimulation)
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a therapeutic modality developed by Francine Shapiro in 1989. She discovered that side-to-side eye movements had a healing effect on anxiety and mental distress. (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3951033/ )
Since then, EMDR has evolved significantly and is now available in Fairfield, Victoria.
Recently, I attended EMDR training to offer this effective modality to my clients, particularly those with trauma histories. Trauma can be complex, involving repeated exposure to abuse, neglect, or life-threatening situations, or it can be a single-incident trauma resulting from one-time events. EMDR is beneficial for all types of traumas.
