I am a qualified counsellor and meditation teacher.

Dedicated to providing a safe and compassionate environment, where you can be heard and understood.

ABOUT ME

Life occasionally throws curveballs at you.

Sometimes life inflicts deep wounds. When you add a touch of unresolved trauma, the life that you could barely cope with no longer remains bearable. In fact, day-to-day life becomes agonizing and fraught – an internal struggle to maintain sanity and a sense of 'normalcy.'

Sometimes, merely staying alive feels like a miracle. Amidst this battle, isolation and fear take hold, causing your inner flame and joy to dim. This has been my lived experience and journey through my mental health challenges.

This unbearable state of being propelled me towards yoga, meditation, and eventually counselling. I sought answers in books, embraced new experiences, explored talk therapies and body therapies, and made profound personal changes that challenged my cognitive distortions.

While I'm always open to discussing life's inherent anguish and the reasons for suffering, my primary role as your counsellor is to guide you out of your pain, offer clarity, and lead you toward a life of meaning, presence, and joy.

Your feelings are valid, even if you don't yet comprehend them. They don't have to be permanent, and you don't have to travel this journey alone.

My name is Vicki Costa and have a background work history spanning over 30 years in community services and the arts.

I share my home with my partner, adult children, and my cherished rescue black cat, Percy.

I find solace in being an avid reader, walker, drawing renewal from nature, and in cherishing meaningful connections.

Background & experience

With over a decade of experience teaching and guiding meditation, and over twenty years as a dedicated meditator myself, I have had the privilege of supporting clients through challenging times and emotional struggles.

I have worked closely with young women aged 16-25, offering guidance as they navigate their emotions during periods of upheaval. I also support women, who have experienced difficult family relationships and trauma.

I co-facilitate and provide support to women coping with Premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD).

I am involved in mentoring and supporting women, who have a history of family trauma, violence and narcissistic abuse.

I am passionate about providing psychoeducation to those in need of mental health support, while also offering a healing space for individuals who simply need to be heard and understood.

My focus is on helping clients work through life's inevitable challenges, particularly those struggling with anxiety and depression.

I utilise an evidence-based approach:

  • Cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT)

  • Solution-focused therapy

  • Acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT)

  • Parts work (Internal Family Systems)

  • Bilateral Stimulation (EMDR)

The sessions are collaborative, person-centred, and strength-based. I use journaling and inner child work to enhance healing. Each session is tailored to your needs, with me as a compassionate witness and facilitator.

Mindfulness and meditation are my specialties.

Depending on your preferences and resonances, I incorporate meditation and mindfulness practices into our counselling sessions.

You will discover clarity, inner strength, and new ways to support and nurture yourself.

Silence is a source of great strength.
